(PAX West 2018) Shadow of the Tomb Raider

This is an interesting one. I’ve loved the remakes of Tomb Raider (wow, really showing the age/changing of reviews there…). Loved them! They were great Action/Adventure games with some good puzzles and stealth mechanics. That being said, the stories were simple and to the point even as the bad guys were a little vague because a mysterious group bent on world domination would be. In Shadow of the Tomb Raider there’s something different and if I hadn’t had to wait three hours in a line to play it, I may have seen that a bit sooner. She’s not shy to spill the blood of her enemies and seems more like Rambo. Here, Lara seems to be doing what she always does, but also with consequences this time. In the gameplay I had at PAX, I (in trying to beat the bad guys) cause a flood and see a village drown. Ooopsies! In the trailer above, she’s shown saving a little boy and ends up freaking the brown out of his loin cloth. I’m excited for this game, but I honestly have no idea what’s awaiting me this time and that’s a welcome change of pace. (I still want to be the protagonist though…)
