What do you get when you cross Fruit Ninja with Guitar Hero? Well… I’m not really sure, but it can’t be too far off of what Rhythm Sprout is.

I think that even if “killing you” platformers aren’t your thing, the low entry price and the love clearly put into Slime Fantasy is worth a try.

Aside from being fun, Panzer Arena makes me feel like I’m playing with my military Micro Machines again.

It’s good to have Cannon Brawl back in my life and I’m excited to be able to play a strategy game with my kids that they can pick up and not be overwhelmed with while enjoying it myself.

(Impressions) Dreamscaper

August 14, 2020 Ailingforale 0 Comments Action Roguelike, Adventure, Afterburner Studios, ARPG, Freedom! Games, Hack'n'slash, Indie, Maple Whispering Limited, Steam Early Access

Rougelites are aplenty almost everywhere now and developers need something to set themselves apart. Afterburner Studios has crafted something different here with Dreamscaper and they’ve done it well.

August 10, 2020 Ailingforale 0 Comments Action, Adventure, Fantasy, Indie, Nintendo Switch, PC, RPG, STEAM, The Ambassador: Fractured Timelines, The Quantum Astrophysicists Guild, tinyDino Games, Twin-Stick Shooter, Xbox One

There is a fair bit of use to the time-stopping ability that stops it from feeling like a gimmick and I’m happy to see they struck that note just right.

(Review) Tiny Little Kingdoms

June 1, 2020June 9, 2020 Ailingforale 0 Comments Android, Board Game, City-Builder, Resource Management, Simulation, Tiny Little Kingdoms

An app on the phone that feels like an actual game and not some gimmicky, shallow version of something you’d want to play elsewhere? Yes!

(Review) Broken Lines

April 25, 2020April 26, 2020 Ailingforale 0 Comments Broken Lines, PortaPlay, Strategy, Tactical, Turn-based, World War II

The game mechanics alone are fantastic and the “stop your action phase when an enemy is spotted” feels so right I wonder why it wasn’t implemented in more games in the genre.

April 13, 2020April 13, 2020 Ailingforale 0 Comments Casual, Christopher Mielack, Hallgrim Games, Indie, Puzzle, Puzzle Pelago, Puzzle Pelago - A Drag & Drop Economy, Simulation

The art design and gameplay mechanics work so well together that when combined with the music… I don’t think I’ve enjoyed being as frustrated in a long time.

Maybe it’s the “pixelated Metroidvania” aspect of the game, but I felt right at home.

You don’t need to be familiar with the classic Rampart game (even though you should), you just need to have a desire for fun while blowing things up.

Updates and Stuff

-(5/1/22) Somehow an old version of M1.5 saved over my current version(which makes no sense as I didn’t keep any old saves). All current code/pixel art/level progress is now gone and I don’t have the heart to start all of that again yet. I’m still pretty upset.
-(4/20/22)When I finish 40 levels of Mazungeon v1.5 I’ll put that up on the Scirra Arcade like I did the first game so people can try it out and give me feedback. I’m having issues with saves and load currently. That’s the biggest hurdle. I’ve got a few levels to hammer out, but the saving and loading is the biggest issue I want to fix before showing it off. I’d say this could happen in about a month / mid May. I’ll post a link when I can.
-While patching my first game Mazungeon, I broke it so it’s off the store. You can see on the site what it was like when it worked. You can play a previous version here.

-Thank you to all developers and PR people who make this wild ride possible. It is a pleasure!
