Thinking of Playing Neverwinter, But Also Read The Drizzt Books?

Ok, so I’m not 100% positive, but I’m taking a friend’s word on this. I’m about to give you the reason why I’m not going to do the Open Beta on Neverwinter right now.

Argh does that look cool.  FTP, player made levels, the environments of Neverwinter are all totally awesome.  So my buddy tells me, though, that the R.A. Salvatore book Gauntlgrym is a prequel to the game and if I played it there would be spoilers.  (Yes, I’m behind.)

I hate spoilers, I do.  So needless to say I’ve got some reading to do since I was waiting until all the books in this set were out so I could just eat them all in a sitting.  Then he goes and tells me that the 5 books set called the War of the Spider Queen set the new books up.  I wasn’t really going to pick them up because they weren’t written by Salvatore, but he tells me they are pretty awesome.  Come on!

So Neverwinter, you’re free to play.  I WILL play you, but today is not your day.  Tomorrow isn’t looking too good either.  Maybe in a month or two… sorry…

Tonight, whilst playing “actual” DnD, I will download the beta on my pc. Having played WoW for so many years (now in remission thank you), I understand spoilers and not reading a book before getting there content wise. Since I know I won’t read Salvatore’s novels, I will delve deep into the beta lines and find out their secrets. Or, just play a beta. I’m easily amused.
